The Bayliner 246 is a very popular multi-purpose boat. It works very well as a cruising boat and fishes well too.
Go on youtube and watch any of the many video reviews. There is even a facebook user group which is filled with helpful hints.
We are the second owners, only having bought it last June. The only reason for the sale is that our interests have changed.
We have the marine survey from last June in hand.
Everything is in wonderful shape. The interior and exterior upholstery is in excellent condition - no rips, tears, or cracks. Same goes for the canvas. There is a drop canvas and a full camper back included. The cockpit has a fold away bench seat as well as a removable and stowable pedestal seat. The hard top over the helm area dramatically increases the usability of this boat in the sun and the rain. The walk through transom gate and large swim platform make getting on and off the boat at the dock very easy, even for those with mobility issues.
The hull is in excellent shape with only 730 hours. The boat has never been moored in saltwater, has never had bottom paint. It has been stored on land between September and June. From September to June it has been moored in freshwater.
The motor is the the full size optional 5.7L (350cu in) and is the TKS (turn key start) 260hp version so it starts readily every time, cold or hot. The Bravo III dual prop leg with stainless props is very efficient and incredibly easy to dock.
Fuel economy is tracked with a Faria fuel manager and even with a moderate load it requires only 65L of regular gas to travel the 63km from Clutesi Haven Marina to Poett Nook, meaning it gets 1km/L - very efficient for the size. The motor has been maintained almost since new at LA Marine here in town. The block was replaced in 2016 and new risers were installed in 2019.
It has the closed loop cooling system.
Bennett trim tabs are working perfectly.
Outlets for 2 Scotty downriggers are ready for use.
There is a built in Faria depth sounder connected to a through hull transducer, and a colour Lowrance 9" chartplotter/fishfinder connected to an in-hull transducer.
A DSC capable VHF radio is included.
A Yamaha 9.9hp kicker is installed and ready for use. It has also been tuned just before the winter.
There is the typical heater based on the engine, but this also has the optional heat pump which works as AC on hot days, and a heater on cold nights.
There is hot water, again based on the engine, but this boat also has the optional hot water tank.
Storage is plentiful and convenient. The fridge is 110V/12V. The stove is alcohol or 110V. There is even a microwave!
The stand up head has a toilet and shower, each with their own holding tank. There is also a shower in the cockpit and it also has hot and cold water.
The rear quarter berth is roomy for an adult, or snug for 2. The foward berth is roomy for 2 adults. The dinette also becomes a berth that would work well for 2 children. The cabin is open feeling and well lit naturally as well as with electric lights. The cabin can be easily closed from the helm/cockpit area with the solid, lockable, sliding door.
The 2 batteries are new as of the summer of 2022.
There is a built-in battery charger/maintainer.
Also, the auxiliary motor (kicker) has the charging system, so in a pinch it would charge the batteries.
We even had the trailer completely gone over last summer - new brakes and hubs, a new spare tire with bracket was added.
There is a nice new stereo that has Bluetooth connectivity and speakers in the cabin and new ones in the cockpit. This isn't a party stereo, but it sounds good when you want music.
There are USB charging points in the cabin and the cockpit.
Everything works on this boat.
Kayak rack (pictured) are included. They also carry canoes and paddleboards.
